As a Medical Support Assistant, you will:
• Work with the Lead Scheduler to coordinate patient appointments and ensure timely communications
• Process community care consults through VA systems such as HealthShare Referral Manager (HSRM) and Provider Profile Management System (PPMS)
• Validate and update patient demographic information in CPRS and VISTA
• Manage incoming patient records, ensuring accurate integration into the VA’s health systems
• Handle patient inquiries via phone and in person with professionalism and courtesy
• Track, schedule, and follow up on appointments
• Support VA medical staff with administrative and clerical needs
• Assist with compliance, patient safety standards, and HIPAA requirements
• Provide courteous and respectful service to veterans, families, visitors, and staff
U.S. residency required
• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• English proficiency (oral and written)
• Basic computer skills and ability to type at least 50 WPM
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• At least 6 months of customer service experience
• No health or physical restrictions that interfere with job performance
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
